Nexus Girl

From Jenny Everywhere Wiki

In Reality Z-25 31-H, Nexus Girl, often referred to as Nexi, was one of the superheroes who belonged to the original Section P. She was nonhuman and had significant powers. Shortly after Kate Five became possessed by Ghede Nibo, Nexi bonded with Ghede's more benevolent “spawnling”, Eros.

Description

Physical appearance

Nexus Girl appeared as a young humanoid woman, 5’ 2" tall, (PROSE: Nexus Girl Bio) with ruby irises, fuchsia-pink skin, (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament) golden hair tied up in a high ponytail (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1) which may have been a wig worn to better it in with humans, (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament) and prominent cheekbones. She wore a golden tiara set with the crimson Nexus Stone at all times, even when in otherwise-casual dress. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1)

Her first superhero outfit, which she designed when she was thirteen, included a white ballet outfit which left her arms bare as well as a pair of pink Converse shoes. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament) By the time she was nineteen, her black, form-fitting superhero outfit kept her upper arms and legs are, as well as including “windows” on her cleavage and midriff. On the other hand, it included gloves that went up to her elbows. After merging with the Spawnling, Nexi's skin turned blue and her eyes pure-white, but she remained otherwise true to her previous appearance. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1)

Personality

Nexus Girl was a calm, benevolent hero. She had great loyalty to, and love for, her friends at Section P, and a sufficiently-strong sense of identity that upon initially bonding with her, the Spawnling's sense of self subsumed itself into hers, with it entirely aligning with her goals, friends and foes. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1) Prior to being forced to mature by this event, she had been described as “happy and carefree”, bordering on “a little childish”. (PROSE: Nexus Girl Bio) She had complicated feelings about the way she was perceived as a child to be protected by the rest of Section P, disliking the feeling of being coddled and patronised, but relishing the attention. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

Nexus Girl's likes included “puppies, gossip magazines, swimsuits and beaches”, while her dislikes included “cold weather, snow, and swearing”, with being frozen to death being one of her greatest fears, alongside “hurting her friends or an innocent life”. (PROSE: Nexus Girl Bio) She was sexually interested in both women (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 4) and men. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

Powers & abilities

Nexus Girl possessed many powers including levitation and hurling non-lethal but powerful bolts of glowing energy from her hands, sufficient to send a symbiote-infused Kate Five crashing through a wall. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1) She could also turn invisible. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 6) The “focal point” of Nexi's power was the Nexus Stone in her tiara, which she believed “harnesse[d] a primal magic power from the universe itself”. (PROSE: Nexus Girl Bio) In truth, it actually transmitted a fraction of the power of the true Nexus Stone located in Hell. At any rate, while she held it, the Stone gave her access to the Nexus Power through which she could observe upon other realities and swap elements between them, as well as teleport herself and others, although the latter took a lot of power and concentration. Biography

Origins

Nexus Girl was found as a child in Angel Falls (PROSE: Kate Five Extended Bio) in 2001. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament) Assuming her to be an “alien orphan”, the Guardians got in touch with other handlers of the bizarre and supernatural, and ultimately struck an argument with Sir James Carey that he would handle the raising of the girl. (PROSE: Kate Five Extended Bio) One account claimed that she was the child of bounty hunters from a planetoid in the Alpha Centaury system, who was left stranded there after her parents foolishly visited Wales in search of work and, weakened by the cold, were killed by local gangsters. As their last act, they purportedly used the Nexus Stone to wipe out their killers before passing it on to Nexi. (PROSE: Nexus Girl Bio) Even before coming to Earth, she knew a little English, like many aliens, as the language was widespread in the Galaxy. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

In Section P

Nexus Girl was raised in secret and “relative safety” by Sir James Carey's superhero team Section P. (PROSE: Nexus Girl Bio) After a round of medical and physical texts, she was shown to Section P's headquarters, where she met Aqua Marine. She took an instant liking to him because he was friendly to her and did not seem at all afraid, overtly or otherwise, of the awesome power she wielded. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

Once she was old enough, she joined the team in earnest. (PROSE: Kate Five Extended Bio) Her first patrol in Cardiff took place in 2008, by which point she was thirteen years old, at least in human terms. She had designed her costume herself, and took the patrol with Aqua Marine and Captain Rhys, then the only other members of Section P.

After they joined the team, (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament) Nexi befriended fellow young women Kate Five and Battle Angel, with the three often spending girls-nights-in together, and even forming a Sunday Night Roleplay Club during which they played games like Dungeons & Dragons. With the three training and even showering together, Kate, who was struggling with her sexuality despite loudly considering herself straight, developed something of an attraction to Nexi, although she mostly had a crush on Battle Angel. (PROSE: Kate Five Extended Bio)

Merging with Eros

One evening, while patrolling the streets of Cardiff, Kate Five became possessed by an alien symbiote which amplified the darkness in her subconscious. Concealing her state, the possessed Kate returned to Section P's HQ, where the symbiote directed her to overpower Taki and assault her, planting the seed of a new alien within her. Growing within moments, the new, blue-coloured creature attempted to bond with Taki's body, but she managed to throw it off and it hid down the shower drain. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1)

Nexus Girl heard the commotion and arrived on the scene, attempting to figure out what was happening between Kate and Taki, only to be taken by surprise by the new symbiote and bond with it. Kate and the black symbiote were unable to persuade the symbiotic hybrid of Nexus Girl and the blue alien to listen to them, however, with the bonded Nexi instead electing to protect Taki, whom they saw as their mother. Blasted into the next room, the symbiote-bonded Kate killed veteran Section P member Aqua Marine as she made her escape. After her disappearance, Nexus Girl and her new symbiote bond-partner pledged to remain loyal to Nexi's friends and to help them track down Kate Five and separate her from the villainous symbiote. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1)

She attended Aqua Marine's funeral at a crematorium, feeling terrible for attending it with the spawn of his killer bonded to her, even though she did not blame Eros for his ancestry. She vowed to try and find some magic that could bring Aqua Marine back to life. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

The Hunt for Kate Five

Six months after her transformation, (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 2) Kate Five ended up in Angel Falls, where she nearly killed Guardian Ms. Blitzen. After the battle was over, Sir James Carey, Battle Angel and Nexus Girl visited Ms. Blitzen in hospital to try to get more information about Kate's newfound capabilities. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 3)

Shortly after Kate's rampage in Angel Falls, she was smuggled out of containment by an unknown party (secretly her twin sister Kimmy). After a few weeks of no news surfacing (as Kate was being held captive and studied by her sister), Nexus Girl and Battle Angel returned to Angel Falls, visting the Bleeding Rose in the hope of picking up her trail after she'd disappeared once again. Spotting them instantly among his patrons, Marcus had Lori tell Battle Angel to speak with him. Meanwhile, the Eros-bonded Nexi, who was unfamiliar with such a seedy environment, was persuaded by two women to join them in a sexual encounter, later being embarrassed at how easily she had been convinced to do so. At any rate, though Marcus initially tried to convince Battle Angel that Kate was a lost cause, he was impressed with Battle Angel's insistence that her friend was still good deep down and merely driven to evil acts by the Symbiote's insistence. Deeming her passionate loyalty “refreshing”, he agreed to help the heroines, (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 4) taking them to Paris in his private jet. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

A wounded Kate Five talks peacefully with Nexus Girl and Eros. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 5)

He then flew the two in his private helicopter to the Ohmega facility on Sark Island where Kimberley had taken Kate, and dropped them off there, warning them that this was as far as he was prepared to enter the fray. Easily sneaking into the facility, they found evidence of a bloody battle between Ohmega security personnel and at least one symbiote — but were unprepared for the sight of Kate, very much in control of herself, cradling a wounded Kimberley and begging anyone for help. Kimberley, as it turned out, had willingly given birth to a new symbiote spawn, Balthus, only for it to try and fight back against its would-be captors with the backing of Kate and Ghede, succeeding at the cost of Kimberley being shot multiple times.

While they parlayed, Balthus made his own choice and bonded with Kimberley directly, stabbing Battle Angel and fleeing. The wounded Battle Angel ordered Nexus Girl to leave her and pursue Kate, who, running through the base, turned a corner to find herself faced with a firing squad headed by Red Giant. She got hit by a few shots, but was pulled to safety by Nexus Girl and the blue symbiote, who half-separated from his host to have a conversation with his “father”, revealing that he had chosen a name, Eros. Ghede helped Kate begin to recover from the wounds, though she would ideally have needed more time to heal, as she went to face Red Giant, refusing to answer when Nexus Girl asked if she'd come quietly with her and Battle Angel once the immediate crisis was over. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 5) Red Giant, revealing himself to be a “roided-up vampire”, nearly got the better of her, but she was saved at the last moment by Battle Angel, who, in the heat of battle, not only forgave Kate but kissed her and declared her love for her.

Meanwhile, Ohmega forces had subdued the symbiote-bonded Kimberley and, deeming Balthus a more valuable resource than the fickle human scientist, prepared to forcibly extract the symbiote from her in a manner which would have killed her. Sneaking in thanks to her invisibility, Nexus Girl intervened, calling on the power of the Nexus Stone to grant Kimberley the use of her Valkyrie armour from a possible universe where she'd been wearing it all along. After escaping, Kimberley accepted that Ohmega had betrayed her, and agreed to team up with Section P as they made their escape.

Valmorri separates Nexus Girl from her Stone and from Eros. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 6)

Nexi insisted on calling upon the Nexus Power once again, but their teleportation was redirected to Hell by a demoness called Duchess Valmorri, who revealed that the power of Nexi's Nexus Stone had been a reflection of the true Stone which she controlled from Hell, and also that she held the soul of Aqua Marine. Without deigning to explain herself further, she offered an ambiguous deal to Nexi to make her give herself up to Valmorri, which Nexi accepted despite the others' protests. After separating Nexi from Eros, in whom she had no interest, Valmorri then teleported them to “somewhere safe” — the Fortress of Evening, where they gave quite the surprise to Captain Evening, Professor Madison and Rodney Rabbit.
