Volensholagoz's Tavern, Grill, and Schmporp-Rehorbbler, better-known as simply the Interdimensional Tavern, was a well-frequented hub for interdimensional travellers, located in the Void.
Nature
Like Hilbert's and the Interdimensional Casino, the Tavern mostly recruited its staff from exiles and castaways who had become adrift in the Void after losing their home universe or being banished from it. (PROSE: The Grand Multiverse Hotel)
The Tavern was operated by Volensholagoz, with Frederick and Tpxszum as waiters, SERIAL CODE 000000234 as the chef, and a shapeshifting Drink-Mixer. One of the Tavern's most constant patron was Alistair Neezley, a braggart who constantly regaled other guests with spurious tales of daring-do. (PROSE: Multiversal Mischief)
Due to its location in the Void, it was often menaced by the many “eldritch abominations” banished into the Void from various universes. However, they were usually able to placate the monsters via free drinks. (PROSE: The Interdimensional Tavern)
History
Early history
On an unknown occasion, Jenny Everywhere saved the Tavern as well as the life of its owner, Volensholagoz. (PROSE: The Winter Quests)
At some point, the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids became acquainted with the Tavern. The Tavern's staff made it clear that they were not to use their Love Potion on the premises, lest they be banned indefinitely. By this point, their staff roster including Frederick, Tpxszum, …234 and the Drink-Mixer was in place; when asked, they claimed not to have changed their staff since “April of ∉∝”. The Wellsians travelled there after escaping Venus, and, from there, to the Interdimensional Black Market. (PROSE: The Grand Multiverse Hotel)
2019
The Department of Documentation of the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids once visited the Tavern together while on a lunch break. There, they met a Victorian Time Traveller from the 97th Cosmos as well as another, stranded time-traveller, who came from the Prime Universe. After returning to the Cupid Homeworld, Bibliophile-962 realised that he'd forgotten a book at the Tavern. He wrote to Frederick to warn him that someone else would be coming to collect it on his behalf, and wrote instructions to do so into the Cupid Fact File concerning the tavern (#124) which he filed about a week later. (PROSE: The Interdimensional Tavern)
After Lord Thymon banished him into the Void, Darius found himself floating some distance away from the Tavern and seeming to drift in its direction. (PROSE: Pessimist and the Dromedaries)
When the Copper-Colored Council of Elders put up the Cupid Suggestion Box, Conquest-932 left a note there suggesting that the Crew look into the idea of taking over the Interdimensional Tavern by force in order to lift the ban on romanticising its guests. The Council seemed to give it some consideration, but ultimately rejected the proposal. (PROSE: The Cupid Suggestion Box)
On Halloween, as usual, the Tavern organised a huge party, which was attended by even more people than usual. Its festivities were a mixture of many traditions, from Prime-adjacent universes' apple-bobbing to “jack o’lanterns lin[ing] the tables as Rope-Bellied Sorpwhagglers screeched out the traditional ballad of Yorp”, Shangtwisters hanging from the ceiling, the walls being painted with “the slime of the Gor-gor-gor fish”, and performing “the traditional Shurukuk Dance” while also bobbing for apples, as well as “taking part in the ancient ritual of Myerbamnk while drinking Glooozethyorn”. Additionally, a werewolf had been hired to “provide entertainment”, and the Ancient Spirit of Gnollt, encased in a prism, was used like a disco-ball to “cast speckled patterns across the dining area”, while several live bats and similar creatures swarmed through the rooms.
Just as Frederick and Tpxszum were beginning to worry about running out of supplies, the entire Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids appeared in the Tavern, having teleported there via the Emergency Transport Button when the Great Ghost's legion invaded the Homeworld. However, they were soon followed by Lord Thymon, who brought them back to the Homeworld to attempt, too late, to stop the ghosts from stealing a fleet of Fog Ships. Their brief appearance had, on the whole, been a positive addition to the night, as Doc-012 had in hand a tub full of apples which he gifted to the waiters. Darius, who'd stayed in his room the whole while, working on building a Void Ship of his own, was of course very distressed to learn of his near-miss at revenge. (PROSE: The Ghosts and the Machine)
2020
There were annual holiday celebrations at the Tavern, in preparation of which it closed for a few days. Juliet-178, Arganthone-056 and Jenny Everywhere visited the Tavern in 2020 just before it closed for this purpose, witnessing the putting up of decorations by the Drink-Mixer with the help of Lord Nachtos and the questionable contributions of Alistair Neezley. (PROSE: The Time of the Toymaker)
2021
In 2021, as an April Fools' Day prank, the Faction of the Fooling Fish tricked all the merchants of the Interdimensional Black Market into relocating to the Tavern, although they eventually figured out the letter they'd received from the Queen of the Black Market had been a forgery. (PROSE: Multiversal Mischief)
Century Smith and Briar met up with one of Smith's friend at the Tavern shortly after Smith and Briar began travelling together. (PROSE: Century Smith and the Time Terror)
After concluding his experiments on Reichenbach IV, Conspiracy-1263 visited the Tavern, where he met the Multi-Coloured Medic. (PROSE: The Case Against Conspiracy)
In December 2021, Alistair Neezley came to fear that the Tavern staff did not like him, and temporarily moved over to the Interdimensional Soda Jerkery, but he was brought back by CS-NA, learning that the staff had missed him throughout their preparations for the Christmas party, to which he was in fact invited. Shortly afterwards, Juliet-178 and Pythagoras-858 teleported into the Tavern, alongside a Troll, Tero Trollgarsson. They had a conversation with another patron, Odin. (PROSE: The Winter Quests)
