Plot

After Jenny Everywhere accidentally shifts into the ship of clockwork detective Pythagoras-858 even as it's flying through the Void, the two crash-land on a desert planet where they trade perspective on the ongoing Rifts crisis. Jenny soon reveals that she has an inkling an organization called the Consistency Imperium are to blame, although she does not know the location of their home-base. Deciding to help with that investigation, Pythe invites Jenny aboard as they depart in his ship.

Context

The story was intended to be legible both to new readers of Jenny who were familiar with The Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupdis, and the reverse. However, to a reader of the Cupids, the story slots into a wider Rifts story arc, bridging the gap between two prose stories, Pythagoras-858 and the Quest for the Stovepipe and The Grand Multiverse Hotel (the latter of which was announced on the last page of the Jenny comic story).

The story also ties into the story arc involving the alchemist Mandragora-257, who makes a flashback cameo in this story after having been the main antagonist of several Jenny-less Cupid stories. Additionally, within the wider context of the ‘Rifts Saga’, the individual prominently depicted in the illustration for the Consistency Imperium is clearly the Imperial Imperator.
