Abstract
The Abstracts were a group of thirty-six mysterious, powerful beings travelling the Multiverse. They were immortal and nearly invulnerable, and each embodied an idea or concept; (GAME: The Jenny Everywhere Roleplaying Game) as such, they could be described as gods. At least some of the Abstracts considered one another “cousins”. (COMIC: Jenny Everywhere in the House of Terror) The Abstracts had not always existed in their current form; they were created, although they had no memory of how, when, or who by. Known Abstracts included Odious, the Abstract of Misfortune, Rae, the Abstract of Luminance, (GAME: The Jenny Everywhere Roleplaying Game) Lit, the Abstract of Illumination, (COMIC: The Jenny Everywhere Chronicles), Strach, the Abstract of Terror, (COMIC: Jenny Everywhere in the House of Terror) and the unnamed Abstract of Life. Abstracts displayed abilities connected to the concept they embodied: the Abstract of Illumination could emit a blinding radiance from his own body, requiring a collar to suppress it, (COMIC: The Jenny Everywhere Chronicles) and the Abstract of Terror could shape-shift at will into a wide variety of frightening supernatural beings. However, if forced to reveal his true appearance, he would have to give the inquiring mortal a boon. (COMIC: Jenny Everywhere in the House of Terror)
Abstracts could also craft and give out items of “Godtech” which related to their abilities but repackaged an aspect of their power in the form of a mechanical device. The various versions of Captain Amelia Midnight tangled with Abstracts, among other powerful beings, during their adventures across the Multiverse. The numerous versions of Jenny Everywhere who grew up as the daughters of versions of Amelia Midnight would often hear about these encounters in their childhoods on the secluded Island of Barbelo, where Amelia would hide her daughter for her own safety. At some point, the Wilson, a Void Ship crewed by Jenny Everywhere and Michael Wherever, came across the Illumination, who was floating alone in space. They took him onboard the ship, with Jenny become his friend; she helped him pick his more personal name, “Lit”. (COMIC: The Jenny Everywhere Chronicles, PROSE: The Disappearance of Jenny Everywhere) The crew of the Wilson had previously encountered Odious, the Abstract of Misfortune, and crossed paths with him very soon after Lit first joined them. Their primary motivation was fighting Chaos, (COMIC: The Jenny Everywhere Chronicles) who was once shown to have what appeared to be a corrupted Abstract sigil on his chest, suggesting he was himself an Abstract. The Abstract of Terror, known as Strach, became the master of D'Ismay Mansion in one universe. The ghosts and demons who flocked to him made the Mansion into the “most haunted house in the world”, and he welcomed even more supernatural entities to the house every Halloween. He also invited some of his cousins, such as the Illumination; at a point posterior to Lit joining the crew of the Wilson, he found himself unable to attend the year's Halloween party at Strach's, prompting the Wilson Jenny to send “another of [herself]” to the house to present Lit's apologies to Strach.
