The Multiverse, also rendered as the Multi-verse (COMIC: Infinity Apartment) or the multiverse, (PROSE: Jenny Everywhere's Twitter, etc.) and also known as the Omniverse (PROSE: The Metafictional Meddler, etc.) or the Multi-Universe, (COMIC: Enchanted) was the totality of every existing parallel universe — “all realities, all possibilities". Jenny Everywhere was believed to exist in every dimension of the Multi-verse. (COMIC: Infinity Apartment)
5D Space was a plane of reality in which one could visualise the infinity of universes, each appearing as a version of the planet Earth. (COMIC: Makeshift Multiverse)
Nature
According to one account, the Multiverse was born from a “soup of seething quarks” known as the proto-multiverse, which was fought over by the Destroyer and the Defender at the "beginning and end of everything". (PROSE: Where Is Everywhere)
The term of “hypercontinuum” could be used to refer to the “meta-history” of dimensional travellers and the Void. (PROSE: The Hermetic Garbage of Jenny Everywhere)
One account suggested that there was only one properly “real” universe, and an infinity of others which were “only possible, not actual,” though this did not mean they did not exist. According to this same account, there were five entities which existed in every possible universe that contained a version of the planet Earth: gravity, God, numerical facts, the “self-organising principle of nature,” and Jenny Everywhere. (COMIC: The Freak Issue) In a different but comparable conception, put forward by one Jenny, the many dimensions of the Multiverse were in actuality an infinite number of calculations being run on a quantum computer sitting at the end of Time in a singular “original” universe. According to her, the Entity was an embodiment of the computer clearing its cache after it had finished calculating a given universe. Another Jenny found this idea highly dispiriting. (COMIC: Makeshift Multiverse)
Smaller multiversal clusters existed within the Multiverse. (PROSE: Psychopomp) Doctor Sigma once explained that if a limited “quantum multiverse”, comprising the timelines splitting off from a given source universe, was a tree, then the “true” Multiverse, what “some pompous folks” called the Omniverse, was the forest containing all possible trees. While given universes and quantum-multiverses might follow specific sets of physical laws, such as quantum physics, all possible worlds were represented across the scope of the Multiverse, including ones running on Newtonian physics or purely magical principles. (COMIC: The Beginner's Guide to Multiversal Theory)
Multiversal nexuses were a phenomenon that could also the transfer of data between universes and the Infinite. (PROSE: A World of Pure Unimagination)
History
Whether there had been such a thing as a “creation of the Multiverse” was “hotly debated”. However, there were some who believed as much, including the Hidden Academics of the Tower of Yqwsl. They speculated that Halloween was so widespread across the Multiverse because “some unwary dimensional traveler accidentally warped back to the creation of the Multiverse itself (…) and dropped a pumpkin, or perhaps a ghost, thus sparking the whole thing”. (PROSE: The Ghosts and the Machine)
According to one account, there originally existed a proto-multiverse, a “seething soup of quarks” which existed a the "beginning and end of everything" and was fought over by the Destroyer and the Defender. Before the Defender banished it into the Void, the Destroyer managed to damage the "pattern of everything" to such an extent that no Big Bang could take place, leaving the proto-multiverse “stillborn”. This forced the Defender to sacrifice herself for the Multiverse, as she splintered herself into an infinity of more limited beings to fill the gaps. (PROSE: Where Is Everywhere)
The Multiverse once fell apart around Jenny Everywhere, its time-crystals “shattering like glass”. As all possibilities crowded in her perception, she managed to use her abilities to solidify reality back into one single mashed-together Collapsed Cosmos. Though she accidentally obscured her own memories of the Multiverse in the process, she and Laura Drake found their way back to understanding what was going on, and sought to use time-crystals to restore the Multiverse to its former state.
Other denizens of the Collapsed Cosmos, including the Archons of the Redoubt, also retained or recovered their memories of the old order of things and enacted plans of their own. Opinions were divided, among those in the know, about what had caused the collapse; some believed it was an aftereffect of the Great Webcomic Crossover Wars of 2007, or of the increased frequency of the “crises” which had their roots in the “big superhero universes”. Others yet believed that it was part of the Multiversal hypercontinuum's natural “life-cycle”. (PROSE: The Hermetic Garbage of Jenny Everywhere)
The Third Universe eventually gained infamy among multiversal hitchhikers for its extreme temporal mutability. Jenny Everywhere hesitantly travelled there in the aftermath of the Unravel before shifting to another universe, and, upon discovering a plot involving the Illuminati and a so-called chocolate factory, she hacked into NASA to transmit an SOS that ideally would pass through a multiversal nexus. (PROSE: A World of Pure Unimagination)
In the Infinite, one incarnation of Jenny Everywhere drank the "best mango smoothie [that] side of the multiverse" whilst sitting on a deckchair laughing at one universe. (PROSE: Jenny Everywhere in: The Unofficial and Now Just Plainly Annoyingly Titled Sequel to "Jenny Everywhere and the Even More Annoyingly-Titled Sequel to "Jenny Everywhere and the Rather Annoyingly Titled Sequel to "Jenny Everywhere and the Very Short Story""") After said universe imploded, seemingly taking its Jenny with it, another Jenny posted about it to Twitter, wondering if the Multiverse was better for it, considering its meta nature. (PROSE: Jenny Everywhere's Twitter)
Sometime after April Fool's Day 2024, Xavier Llewellyn used their knowledge of how their universe was a part of the multiverse. While this universe wasn't the universe in which you read the story, aka the "real world", Xavier considered that all universes in the multiverse were technically "real worlds". (PROSE: The Non-Canonical, Unlicensed and Non-Valid Sequel to Arcbeatle Press’(s) April Fool's Anthology “The Noodle Incident”, 2024: 2 Noodle, 2 Furious 2, The Electric Boogaloo, feat. the Piscons, Jenny Everywhere and the People’ Republic of China)
