Skirmish at the Vanityville Supermarket

The Skirmish at the Vanityville Supermarket occurred in 1986 on the Prime Universe's Earth in Vanityville.

It was the first encounter between the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids and their subsequent long-time foes, the Gang of the Green Gorilla, as well as the first time the Crew engaged in physical conflict. The Green Gorillas had taken over the Vanityville Supermarket, attempting to use it as a venue to coerce the locals into buying their green gorilla merchandise instead of any other items. Meanwhile, a detachment of Cupids had been sent to Vanityville under the leadership of Amadeo-378 to romanticise the locals, taking advantage of the holiday cheer to make the process both easier, and less noticeable. Seeing what had happened, Amadeo decided to engage the Gorillas in battle, and the Cupids quickly got the upper hand over the Gorillas, who had never dealt with Cupid Arrows before. Years later, Nostradamus-066, the “Backwards Prophet”, had a vision which he later realised related to these events, to which he gave voice as the following prophecy:

“Those cast in the visage of the old god

Shall fight the great beasts in the vainglorious halls
The battle, they will find, is at a standstill
Until five-points arrive at one idea”
