Sir James Carey

From Jenny Everywhere Wiki
(Redirected from Sir Carey)

In Reality Z-25 31-H, Sir James Carey, often referred to as simply Sir Carey, was the overseer of Section P, the British Ministry of Defence's superhero team.

Description

Physical appearance

Sir Carey was an old man with pale, wrinkled skin and short, light-gray hair. He usually wore a white shirt and black tie. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1)

Personality

Although he seemed to genuinely care about his team, Sir Carey was extremely pragmatic in his behaviour, speaking in clipped functional jargon and remaining stoic even in great emergencies. Caring more about decorum and propriety than the heroes making up Section P, he was irritated by their frequent lack of modesty and general casual fashion sense, urging them to properly dress up in their bespoke costumes for meetings, much to their annoyance. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1) He had a fatherly soft spot for Kate but tried not to show it. (PROSE: Kate Five Extended Bio) Nexus Girl similarly thought of him as “distant” and yet “paternal”. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

Biography

In 2001, (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament) When an alien orphan girl was found in Angel Falls, Sir Carey negotiated with the Guardians and they ultimately agreed that Carey's organisation was best-equipped to raise the child, who would then grow up to become Nexus Girl, a member of Section P. (PROSE: Kate Five Extended Bio) He brought her back to England with a military escort. At first, despite her young age, he was afraid of her. (PROSE: Nexus Girl's Lament)

Sir James Carey was involved in an underhanded deal authorities made with the Japanese Yakuza, wherein which the Yakuza handed over their infamous teenage assassin Takako Yoshida in exchange for reduced interference in their less showy criminal endeavours from international authorities. He was given to Takako as her next assassination target, but actually forewarned, with an entire armed squad (including a telepathic attacker) waiting to collect her before she could take her shot. After she was apprehended as planned, however, Sir Carey visited her in the facility where she was detained and gave her the chance to be freed and have her slate wiped clean if she agreed to become part of Section P. (PROSE: Battle Angel Yoshida Bio)

Sir Carey, having just learned of Aqua Marine's death, demands an explanation from Battle Angel and Nexus Girl. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 1)

Six years later, with Taki now 24, (PROSE: Battle Angel Yoshida Bio) on the evening when Kate Five returned to Section P HQ after becoming covertly possessed by an alien entity, an unsuspecting Sir Carey greeted her, ordering her to prepare a full report on her encounter with a mysterious metahuman (who was actually the alien's previous host) before nine o'clock. Later, after Kate went on a rampage and killed Aqua Marine before fleeing, Sir Carey intervened, demanding an immediate full report from Battle Angel and Nexus Girl, the latter of whom had just bonded with another symbiote. After getting the two heroines, who, since the fight had broken out in the showers, were naked at the time, to put on their uniforms, Carey called for a full meeting of Section P during which he explained the situation to them before ceding the floor to Nexus Girl, who explained her new dual nature in her own words and assured her friends that she was still their friend and still, in a very real way, the same person as before. The Hunt for Kate Five

Six months later, Section P followed Kate to the American city of Angel Falls. Upon arriving, they were met with a representative of the Guardians, Ms. Blitzen, who had a conversation with Sir Carey. Later the same day, Blitzen would face Kate herself, ultimately being nearly killed. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 2) After the battle was over, Carey, Battle Angel and Nexus Girl visited Ms. Blitzen in hospital to try to get more information about Kate's newfound capabilities. Sir Carey was disturbed to hear that after fatally wounding her, Kate had seemed on the cusp of somehow sucking out her soul. Blitzen's friend Hailey Storm also joined them in the hospital room and briefly berated Carey for not having given the Guardians enough warnings about what kind of a threat they were up against, but PhyreFrost took Carey's side, instead blaming herself for what had happened to Blitzen. (COMIC: Kate Five vs Symbiote - Chapter 3)

After Kate was taken into custody, she was intercepted by the shady organisation Ohmega and taken to their secluded facility on Sark Island. When Battle Angel and Nexus Girl headed there and caused much chaos in their attempt to get Kate back, Robert Pelham contacted no less than David Cameron, the Prime Minister, demanding that he tell Sir Carey to call off Section P to fulfill the promise of non-interference in Ohmega's affairs that Cameron had pledged to get their covert support during his campaign.
