Gnomes were a species of small, somewhat magical humanoids with large ears, often sporting beards and wearing pointy hats. Inanimate models of gnomes were often used as garden decorations.

Gog and Mim were two gnomes from a fantasy universe where humans were nearly unheard-of. They did not appear to age, and lived in a hollowed-out, giant mushroom converted into a house. Gog, the male one, wore a pointy hat and sported a bushy white beard. The human Janet Jenkins, after visiting them from a more mundane world, used Gog and Mim as models for clay garden gnomes she began selling. (COMIC: Enchanted)

While apartment-hunting, Junter and Ibdis rejected multiple possible apartments due to being put off by “scary” garden gnomes. (COMIC: The Last One Did Have A Jacuzzi)

A gnome mechanic was once unfriendly to Wu during the course of an adventure having something to do with “the sport of gnome wrestling”. (PROSE: Pit Stop)

Lawn gnomes who were known as “professionals at ceramic, glass, and polyurethane repair” (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: Elevator) existed in one universe. They were first glimpsed by Mika and his mother Hattie, passing menacingly through their garden, armed with various weapons. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: Very Small Assault) They left when they were contracted via a mobile phone call to perform the repair (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: A Very Pink Assault) of the Great Glass Elevator after its sudden arrival in the west garden of the Strange and Wonderful House. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: Elevator)

The Nome King existed in the Land of Oz and had a magical weakness to eggs. (PROSE: Jenny Everywhere and the Lord of Hell, PROSE: The Interlude of Jenny Everywhere)

The existed a Secret League of the Orange-Bearded Gnomes, active primarily in the Prime Universe but capable of interdimensional travel. (PROSE: The Grand Multiverse Hotel, The Winter Quests, COMIC: The Beginner's Guide to Multiversal Theory) Doctor Sigma once displayed images of such a Gnome, bemused at the sight of an entrance to the Time Sewers, as part of a lecture on Multiversal theory. He also cited “all the Gnomes” as one of the interesting quirks of the Multiverse which he was sorry he didn't find the time to elucidate during the lecture. (COMIC: The Beginner's Guide to Multiversal Theory) In December 2021, Prime Universe time, Century Smith and Briar ran into malevolent cyborgs fighting over the title of Supreme Cyborg at the Multiversal Waffle House, at the Interdimensional Gift Shop and even at the “Gnome Place”, which they only visited by accident in the first place. (PROSE: The Winter Quests) At some point, they began accepting other Little People such as Leprechauns, Lutins and Gnatlings as members; these recruits would become magically imbued with the magical qualities of a Gnome, such as a weakness to eggs. (PROSE: The Interlude of Jenny Everywhere)
