Goblins were supernatural humanoid beings often associated with causing mischief. Their nature varied greatly from one world to the next.

History

In Dimension Epsilon Five

Goblins were the native intelligent species of the planet Thrash, (PROSE: The Time of the Toymaker) located in Dimension Epsilon Five. (PROSE: The Grand Multiverse Hotel) They lived in harmony with the natural world of their planet. There existed several peaceful Goblin civilisations over the aeons. After the Wellsians took control of the planet using the Crystal of Thrash, they enslaved most of the Goblins, though resistance fighters existed in the wilderness beyond the areas that the New Wellsian Empire controlled directly. (PROSE: The Time of the Toymaker)

Universe visited by Abúi

In one fantasy universe, the King of the magical kingdom that included the city of Little Noodlington appeared to be a goblin, being a short humanoid with green skin, a long pointy nose, and large pointy ears. (COMIC: Enchanted)

Encountered by RagBoy and Hands McGee

A pack of batlike goblins that fed on fear were attacking an old woman, Natalia, who they had been after since she was a child. RagBoy and Hands McGee, guided by a magical watch, came to her rescue. One of the goblins sent RagBoy and Hands McGee to a Limbo-like dimension, but Doctor Know came to their rescue, guiding them back to reality to kill the remaining goblins. They gave the magical goblin-tracking watch to Natalia to keep her safe. (COMIC: Nighthawks)

In the Strange and Wonderful House

The “highest of goblins” were tasked with caring for the dry ice surrounding the locked golden gate at the pinnacle of the Stairwell of the Strange and Wonderful House. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Stairwell) When there were rumbling of the lawn gnomes installing an Elevator in the House to bypass the impossible stairwell, their “threats and warnings” became “rather harsh”, foretelling doom for any residents of the House who tried to “zip up to the top too quickly”. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: Elevator) The Master of the House had to carry out negotiations with the Goblin King, and requested a special bottle of memory-wine from the Cellar to make them pleasant. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Cellar)

Universe of the Labyrinth

In one reality, Jareth, of the Unseelie Fae, was the “Goblin King” of the Labyrinth, a mysterious magical structure inhabited by a variety of Goblins such as the Fireys. He did not appear to be considered a Goblin himself. (PROSE: Everywhere's The Thing!)

In the Prime Universe

In the Prime Universe, goblins were a type of corporeal spirits, who normally resided in the Spirit Realm. Like any other kind of spirit, goblins of the Spirit Realm could only linger on the corporeal plane in the universe to which they were anchored, or by possessing a vessel on a different universe. On Halloween 2019, the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids and Madame Tarsa faced and ultimately defeated the Great Ghost's legion, which had escaped from the Spirit Realm and included goblins among many other spirits. (PROSE: The Ghosts and the Machine)

Other references

The Man in Grey once tore up an incriminating photograph of his younger self “like a deranged goblin” after snatching it from Doctor Know's hands. (PROSE: Open Sourcing (2024 reedit))
