A hands-free Dematerialisation Engine was a small black device, consisting of little more than a dematerialisation circuit and interface, which could be keyed directly into a mechanical being's systems, allowing them to dimension-travel at will, similar to a shifter. The devices were developed by Doctor Sigma of the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids for CS-NA, but Juliet-178 also filched a prototype. However, she used it only once, to get herself, Pythagoras-858 and Tero Trollgarsson from the Forest to the Interdimensional Tavern, as she found that using it gave her “a splitting headache”.
