Asterix was a 20th century comic series in at least one universe. In the customary fashion of comics of its era, strong language was censored and replaced with grawlix.
Long after the comics had fallen out of the public consciousness, Laura Drake's grandmother read some of them to a two-year-old Laura. She also taught the girl the word “grawlix”, inspiring the name of her plush alligator Grallyx. (PROSE: Extradimensional Experiments)
