In one universe, Trent was the eldest and favourite son of a man and woman who had been in charge of one of the bunkers of a human colony planet. When they decided to retire early, Trent inherited custody of the bunker.
However, Trent's jealous younger brother Billy, consumed with envy and resentment, ended up faking evidence that Trent had struck an alliance with the Eagles and leaked it to the Eagles' bitter rivals, the Kievs, thus tricking the Kievs into breaking the truce forbidding them from interfering with civilians and attacking the bunker. They killed Billy and Trent's parents, and the rest of the bunker's inhabitants, while Billy and Trent made their escape.
After two days, they ended up at a “scummy” bar, where they were hoping to stay for the night on their way up to one of the Citydromes. There, they met Jenny Everywhere and related their woes to her. Jenny revealed that, although she was not native to this planet, she had gotten a good sense of its political equilibrium thanks to a chance meeting with a mysterious old man. Using this knowledge, she realised that the Kievs would not have attacked the bunker unless they'd been tricked, and confronted Billy. Reacting much more violently than she'd expected, Billy pulled out a gun, and ended up shooting Trent before Jenny could intervene. However, he was soon captured by the old man Jenny had met, a ruthless vigilante willing to do anything to protect the peace between the Kievs and Eagles, who ended up hanging him outside the bar before riding off.
