The Trio of the Talking Turkeys was one of the Strangely-Colored Secret Societies of the Prime Universe, founded as splinters of the First Horde. (PROSE: The Strangely-Colored Secret Societies) As their name implied, they were a group of just three, anthropomorphic turkeys. (PROSE: The Trio of the Talking Turkeys)

History

The Trio originated when, in 1959, the Horde's leaders put Professor Scarper in charge of procuring turkeys for them for their Thanksgiving dinner on November 28th, 1959. After Scarper forgot to do so until the day itself, he genetically engineered three turkeys by extrapolating DNA from an old feather, using the same techniques as when he had created his armies of mutated animals; this accidentally led to the turkeys developing sapience.

Having deduced the purpose behind their existence from a cookbook Scarper had left open near their cage, they quickly escaped from the cage in question thanks to one of the three using his beak to pick the lock. Though the laboratory was locked, the ambushed Scarper upon his return, pecking him into submission and stealing the key from him before escaping into the wilderness. Feeling the urge shared by all of Scarper's creations to found a secret society, they named themselves the Trio of the Talking Turkeys and decided to dedicate it to “to from those who would attempt to eat them (…) and possibly to replacing turkey on Thanksgiving with, perhaps, beef, or maybe mangoes. But mostly to escaping”.

The Trio would subsequently spend decades living in the shadows of the Prime Universe, throwing themselves into a tizzy every Thanksgiving at the thought of being eaten — never seeming to realise that their status as talking, mutant turkeys would likely dissuade anyone who so much as caught them from going any further. The Turkeys first met the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids on Thanksgiving Day in 2013, when they briefly stowed away to the Cupid Homeworld in Larrikin-1029's Fog Ship with the aim of using it as a safe hideout until the day had passed. After Larrikin impishly threatened to eat them anyway, however, they made a complete U-turn and demanded to be taken home. The Crew obliged, though they would bump into the Trio again on several occasions until the Cupid authorities, having grown curious, decided to have the Scarlet Wings investigate the Trio's origins. They subsequently became the subject of Cupid Fact File #1023. (PROSE: The Trio of the Talking Turkeys)

One of the Turkeys was being held captive at the Drove of the Database-Compiling Dromedaries' Research Laboratory 6 when Pessimist-242 was brought there. Like the others, the Turkey took place in the mass escape orchestrated by Pessimist soon after. It sat out most of the fighting, hiding in a corner, but decided to lend a wing at the very end to save face, helping to knock out Darius. (PROSE: Pessimist and the Dromedaries)
