Wogglebugs were insects native to the Land of Oz. Professor Wogglebug was a magically-enlarged, educated Wogglebug.
In the 925th Universe's version of Oz, Wogglebugs were green and resembled praying mantises, except that they had hands instead of pincers on their forelimbs. (PROSE: A Series of Queer Events) Most were small and non-sapient. Describing the mating practices of ordinary, non-sapient, non-magnified wogglebugs, the Professor once explained that they “tend[ed] to cuddle, maybe bite a bit, and then, when the time is right, the female of the species decapitate[d] the male so that her young [could] feast on their remains”.
