Fred “Junior” Hancock was a childhood friend, and the first serious crush, of Gwen Davis, alias Gwenna, in Reality Z-25 31-H.

The pair and third friend Deena grew up in Pinedale and attended high school together, often hanging out at a neighbourhood coffee shop. As the two girls grew, they became rivals for Junior's heart, though not to the extent of spoiling their earlier friendship; eventually, during the summer after their graduation, Junior proposed to Deena rather than Gwenna. Finding herself more grief-stricken than she'd expected, Gwenna not only left them but the city altogether, deciding to go out of town for college. Down the line this led to her (COMIC: Ruthless Ro-Man) finding a new life in the Naked Jungle as the “mate” of Kaza, who had already been “Jungle Lord” for some time by the time she joined him. A now-married Fred and Deena later travelled to the Jungle to visit Gwenna and meet her husband, meeting them at the Adventurers Club. As they caught up, however, the Club was attacked by Ro-Man, an old enemy of Kaza and Gwenna's who mistook Deena for Gwenna and abducted her. Intending to take revenge on Kaza in a particularly personal fashion, the body-hopping alien intended to possess “Gwenna” and then kill Kaza with his love's own hands. He successfully possessed Deena, only to be tracked down by the real Gwenna and friends — including Junior. After learning the hard way that Deena “had never won a fight in her life”, Ro-Man was goaded into leaving Deena's body to attempt to possess the actual Gwenna, whereupon, with Dynamo's help, Junior managed to trap his gaseous form in his own helmet. After everything got cleared up, Deena and Fred made their excuses for the day, but informed Kaza and Gwenna that they were staying in Buranda for a few weeks, hoping to get a more relaxing evening together in the coming days.
