Vertginite
Vertginites were a species of crystalline shapeshifters.
They would arrive on a planet in the form of crystal orbs, then copy the physical form of whoever first touched the sphere, having extrapolated their genetic material. The doppelganger, who would have the same shape as the original but inverted colours, would then begin to attempt to take over the planet, starting with the immediate family of the person they had duplicated.
One Vertginite was recruited by Chaos and sent in ball form to Westbrook, Wisconsin, on the Earth of one universe. There, the orb was picked up by the local Jenny and mimicked her, including her shifting powers, making this Vertginite into that universe's incarnation of Jenny Nowhere.
