Tetra-None Hepta-Oct (925th Universe)

From Jenny Everywhere Wiki

The 925th Universe's version of Tetra-None Hepta-Oct, (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) whose name was sometimes rendered as 0000-8888888, (PROSE: Open Sourcing) and often called simply Tetra, (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Happy Birthday, Jenny Over-There!, etc.) was a Cyclock who became an employee of the Multidimensional Finders Service's Scottish Division in the 925th Universe.

Description

Physical appearance

Tetra-None Hepta-Oct had a single eye, “skin similar to that of a boiled egg”, and silver hair. (PROSE: Open Sourcing)

Powers & abilities

As a Cyclock, (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) she had the ability to see through time, (PROSE: Open Sourcing) meaning she could gaze into the future to determine where someone would eventually locate a missing item, and tell them early. (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) She sometimes had visions about her own future, which she subsequently felt compelled to carry out. (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Tetra-None Hepta-Oct and Doctor Know-It-All Talk it Out)

On one occasion, Jenny Over-There also got the sense that Tetra was absent-mindedly trying to initiate a psychic connection with her before belatedly realising her human conversation partner couldn't reciprocate this form of communication. (PROSE: A Series of Queer Events (2024 reedit))

Personality

Tetra had trouble acclimatising to human life, as her homeworld's culture didn't include various human concepts ranging from “living in linear time” to gender, with the closest equivalent to the latter being time signatures. However, she was excited to learn about human lifestyles, notably being determined to try out all gender presentations at a leisurely pace. (PROSE: Open Sourcing (2024 reedit))

Biography

Early existence

As a Cyclock (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) she was “formerly an entity an entity in charge of keeping Time itself together”, (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Tetra-None Hepta-Oct and Doctor Know-It-All Talk it Out) with the species having been “hand-crafted” by “the Guardians of Time themselves” to “watch over the timelines of many universes”, (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) although the Guardians seemed to be specifically native to the 925th Universe. (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Tetra-None Hepta-Oct and Doctor Know-It-All Talk it Out) On their homeworld, Tetra-None Hepta-Oct didn't exist in linear time, a concept they would later find fairly befuddling. (PROSE: Open Sourcing (2024 reedit))

On one occasion, “she was handed the legendary Rubix Configuration that imprisoned the Celebites, said to be impossible to solve”, and “solved it in seconds” such that “the Celebites hadn’t even finished putting on their chastity gear by the time they were freed”. (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) Tetra hadn't realised what would happen when she solved the Configuration, unaware that the Celebties had been “contained” within the Configuration for “centuries”. After being freed, the beings “went on to cause a very chaste brand of havoc across the universe”, for which reason Tetra avoided bragging about her intellectual feat in solving the puzzle, no matter how remarkable it was. (PROSE: Good Crieff: The Tribulations of the Scottish Division (2024 reedit))

Hiring at the M.F.S.

Having been compelled to leave her homeworld, (PROSE: Open Sourcing (2024 reedit)) she was one of the candidates interviewed by Jenny Over-There and the Man in Grey, hoping to get a position at the Multidimensional Finders Service. With her talents being among the ones that best dovetailed into the organisation's workings and purpose, she was accepted without fuss, and was sent to Scotland to set up the new M.F.S. branch alongside Doctor Know-It-All, Talbot Molossus and the Hydrant. (PROSE: Open Sourcing)

The newly-hired Scottish Division team also attended the Pride party organised by Jenny Over-There and Dynamite Thor in Professor Helvetius's Convenient Pride Decorations Shop. (PROSE: A Series of Queer Events) Tetra and Jenny soon agreed that loud, crowded merriment wasn't their thing, and went off to get a pizza together. (PROSE: A Series of Queer Events (2024 reedit))

Working for the Scottish Division

After they got settled in their new HQ in Crieff, Tetra, now alternating she/her and they/them pronouns, (PROSE: Good Crieff: The Tribulations of the Scottish Division (2024 reedit)) soon proved the team member most able to fill in for Jenny Over-There's usual duties, as she could use her temporal omniscience to see where the object had been lost or where it would be found in the future, (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) though she continued to find “Earth-speak” somewhat challenging. (PROSE: Good Crieff: The Tribulations of the Scottish Division (2024 reedit))

In contrast, Talbot and the Hydrant were largely useless, with Talbot acting as team leader and the Hydrant as his moral support; Doctor Know, thanks to his magical computer, was more capable, but he also frequently deserted his duties. (PROSE: Good Crieff - The Tribulations of the Scottish Division) She maintained a vague long-distance friendship with Jenny Over-There herself, with the two sending each other funny pictures with some regularity. (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Happy Birthday, Jenny Over-There!)

In the spring of 2023, she got a call from Dynamite Thor, being surprised to learn that he had actually been hired as an intern at the main Wales-based M.F.S. office despite his poor showing during the hiring process. When he asked for the location of crimes for him to foil, Tetra had the presence of mind to ask him what he would do about even a very minor crime, and, when he blithely described his dynamite-based way of dealing with any situation, she elected to lie and tell him that there were currently no crimes to be found anywhere on the planet. (PROSE: (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Peter Thor's Day Off)

Later, during a low ebb in incoming calls, Tetra idly scanned her own future and saw that she was supposed to have a conversation with Doctor Know. Going over to do so, she found the Doctor playing a game on his computer. They made awkward small talk until the Doctor was interrupted by a phone call from his artificial son, Professor Wogglebug, which informed Doctor Know that Wogglebug was now dating the Man in Grey. His mind boggling at the revelation, the Doctor went off to process it, leaving Tetra to sneakily take advantage of his unlocked, unmanned computer to try out the game for herself.
