Complete dimensional collapse
Complete dimensional collapse was the collapse of a universe or dimension upon itself. It could be caused by the stress engendered by a sufficiently great concentration of Rifts in one place. A sense of mounting doom and fraying of reality would begin to set in a few days before the collapse actually occurred. If allowed to complete itself, the collapse would create a shockwave of destruction that could destroy or damage thousands of universes “around” the affected dimension, starting with all the ones the Rifts connected to.
During the Rifts Crisis, Tracker-764 and an old man prevented a small hub dimension from being lost to complete dimensional collapse, using a ritual employing four Prisms, which stabilised the existing Rifts and prevented any more from forming. (PROSE: The Mad Cupid of the Euclidean Plane)
