Barbershop-679 was a Mark VII Clockwork Cherub and one of the two joint Prefects of the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids' Department of Impossible Things alongside Untenable-921 (a situation which, fittingly enough, was not supposed to be possible).
On the day of the faceless magician incident, he and his Department were among the first to evacuate the Cupid Homeworld, ensuring that the Department of Problem-Solving would have to deal with it instead of them. (PROSE: Magic Trick)
Behind the scenes
Barbershop is presumably named in reference to Lewis Carroll's “barbershop paradox”, a famous logical paradox, i.e. an impossible thing.
