During her quest in the Makara Isles, Jenny Everywhere found herself travelling in the company of an apparently-local man called Amuro Ray, whom she described as a “Final Fantasy guy”, jokily staying that she hoped they'd complete their adventurous quest in the Makara Isles before he got the chance to “spoil XIV” for her. He seemed to possess some manner of magical abilities.

Biography

Together with the monk Nero, they travelled to a ghost town overlooked by a creepy castle. After Jenny's phone spontaneously “updated with a quest” to enter the castle, the party, inexplicably joined by a bush person who'd been following them around, reluctantly complied. After Nero was attacked by a mimic disguised as a door, Amuro “c[ould]n't stop opening doors” and ended up attracting the attention of a group of gargoyles, who appeared in the hallway “like Weeping Angels”. In the ensuing battle, however, Ray was able to use a thunder-spell to blast Nero free of the room in which he'd become trapped, allowing the monk to help fight the gargoyles.

Soon enough, the fight was broken up by the intervention of one of Dracula's daughters, the ladies of the house, who explained that they had no ill intent against the travellers and indeed wished them well on their quest. The vampires invited the group to dinner, where they were joined by a second bush person and told the full details of the prophecy they were to fulfill, which involved the restoration of four sacred pillars.

Seemingly having received monetary aid from the vampires, the group departed and hired pack animals known as Locobos, with a “Chocobo whistle” in Amuro's possession turning out to also be effective at controlling these similarly-named creatures. Travelling through a wood haunted by things that only looked like owls, they intended to reach a certain temple. Amuro and Nero proved to be “bad at talking to teenagers”, with Jenny being the one who haggled with a group of teen locals for a map of the temple. Within, after solving a “statue puzzle”, the adventurers obtained a crown which was either particularly nice or cursed to exert a supernatural attraction on those who beheld it, as Jenny and Nero soon found themselves fighting over it. However, the dispute became moot as the adventurers had to deal with a flash flood, hurrying to safety in a treehouse village.

A little later, the adventurers, now joined by the baby water-dragon Rain, visited a haunted mansion where they were soon attacked by a crazed ghost chef who wanted to make gelato out of Rain. (PROSE: Jenny Everywhere's Twitter)(PROSE: Jenny Everywhere's Twitter)

Behind the scenes

It is not clear if, in describing her travelling companion as a “Final Fantasy guy”, Jenny means that he is a fan of the series (which, given the apparent of existence of electronics on the Malakara Isles as evidenced by her access to Twitter, would not be so outlandish), or that he resembles a generic Final Fantasy character. The name revealed for him in a later Tweet, “Amuro Ray”, is shared with a character from an unrelated iconic Japanese franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam, but it does not appear that he is an unlicensed appearance of that character in any direct sense.
