The Fury of the Sky Witch! (comic story)
The Fury of the Sky Witch!, or And now a word from our sponsors… was a one-page interlude comic in the Kaza’s Mate, Gwenna webcomic, released partway through the second full-length story, COMIC: Ruthless Ro-Man.
A parody of advertisements in old-school comics for the ubiquitous Hostess Fruit Pies, it also conflated them with the imaginary Kooba Cola brand, creaturing the Kooba Fruit Pies. The titular “Sky Witch”, Taho, was also one more public-domain-character reimagining.
The comic was further notable as the first time Gwenna appeared without Kaza.
Contents
Plot
The witch Taho is attacking a Burandan village on the back of a giant pterosaur. Unable to get at her from the ground, Gwenna resolves to lure her down and ends up using a satchel's worth of delicious Kooba Fruit Pies, which succeeds in drawing her close enough to the ground that Gwenna is able to tackle her off her reptile and then capture her. The villainess sulks in defeat as her steed ends up fruiting on the pies instead of her.
