Grober was Jenny Over-There's childhood cat in the 925th Universe.
Grober had “orange fur”, “long whiskers” and a “weird meowing that sort of sounded like a lawnmower”.
In or around 2012, Jenny's fourteen-year-old cousin Marietta, who had been getting into occultism, was convinced by Nyarlathotep to sacrifice the cat in a ritual to summon Yog-Sothoth (which didn't work the way he'd claimed he would in the first place). Jenny was shocked and heartbroken, avoiding Marietta for a decade; her reaction snapped Marietta to her senses and she likewise spent the subsequent decade regretting the deed and trying to atone for it by using her powers for good as “Lady Satan”. Eventually, for Christmas 2022, she managed to acquire a magic coin that would allow her and Jenny to travel to the Underworld to find and resurrect Grober, which finally got Jenny to forgive her. (PROSE: A Very Jenny Over-There Christmas) The two successfully brought him back from the dead, but, learning that her flat had a no-pets policy, Jenny was forced to leave him with her mother and father. In one telling of the cat's rescue, Marietta Over-There implied that Greek mythology happened to have the correct account of the afterlife in general, (PROSE: A Very Jenny Over-There Christmas) while a retelling of the same event suggested that there were many afterlives, with one's destination depending on one's beliefs or religious practices — such that Grober had only wound up in the Greek Underworld because he happened to be a fervent worshipper of the goddess Hecate.
