In one universe, the Junterlings were psychic manifestations of the will of the lich mage Junter, serving as his companions and minions.
Nature
The Junterlings were innumerable and interchangeable, resembling flying emojis emitting a trail of fire. Although their mood reflected Junter's, they could act independently from his consciousness to a degree, for example being more susceptible to magical compulsions like a Rune of Wanting than Junter was. They displayed a capacity for limited telekinesis, able to pick up and carry small objects despite their lack of limbs. (COMIC: A Letter From Beyond)
History
Junter once attempted to take over the world by attacking Tokyo with a giant, kaiju-sized Junterling who could fire beam from its eyes. This plan failed, just like all of Junter's world-domination bids. He later tried it again with a mechanical duplicate of the giant Junterling, again without success. (COMIC: MechaGiantJunterling)
A Junterling was hovering around Junter when he returned home to his and Ibdis's apartment to find him feeding on a human woman. The Junterling sarcastically called Ibdis a “playa’” at the sight. (COMIC: Playa’)
After Junter kidnapped the Pope, (COMIC: Adventurers and Heroes) O.O.P., a group dedicated to rescuing him, tried to infiltrate the apartment by sending in Bob (a sentient yellow helium balloon and rogue) disguised as a Junterling. The disguise was weak, however, and Junter saw right through it, as did a flock of three Junterlings hovering around him at the time. (COMIC: Pseudo Junterling) A single Junterling was orbiting Junter when he set a trap for Creed (COMIC: Back To The Drawing Board) and again, later, when Junter made fun of Creed to his face; it briefly drew away from Junter to lunge at Creed and add one more barb. (COMIC: You Disgust Me!)
Junter lost five Junterlings fighting the unspeakable horror. (COMIC: A Letter From Beyond)
