Plot
Jenny Everywhere and Jenny Anywhere discover that, somehow, whatever binds the various alternative selves of Jimmy Wherever and Jimmy Anytime across the Multiverse together has been undone: all of their incarnations are living independent lives, and none of them recognise either Jenny. Meeting up in a tree house on Jupiter in one universe, the two Jennies figure out that someone must have somehow used Anytime's own time-travel powers to undo the creation of the “original” Wherever and Anytime whose templates ended up rippling across the dimensions. They realise that Jenny Nowhere must be to blame.
With Everywhere being able to sense where “her” Nowhere is, Everywhere and Anywhere shift to her current lair in another universe, where they find the “original” Jimmy Wherever and Jimmy Anytime strung up over an acid pool. Nowhere pushes a button to drop them into the acid, but Everywhere wrestles her away from the controls and pushes the button again to halt their descent; while Anywhere manages to get them untied and back onto solid ground, a venomous Nowhere explains that she intended to clear the board of Jenny Everywhere's friends so that she would have no other equal to confide in than Nowhere. Nowhere shifts away after a final hint that she's already done something to “destroy” the Jimmies even if they don't literally die.
Anywhere calls Everywhere over to show her what Nowhere meant: Nowhere has regressed both Jimmies' memories to the very first moment after Anytime was created by a “cloning thingie”, meaning Anytime is once more unaware that he is not the real Jimmy Wherever, but also contains subconscious programming to hate the other Jimmy and try to kill him as soon as he realises his true identity. This happens soon enough, but Anywhere thinks to grab onto Anytime and trigger his time-travel power against his will, allowing her to take him back to the time he was plucked from and reverse Nowhere's meddling. Soon enough, the damage Nowhere caused is undone as every Jimmy Wherever or Anytime in the Multiverse is once again into the correct telepathic network. However, Jenny Everywhere is left wondering what lengths her Nowhere will go to next time.
Worldbuilding
Jenny Everywhere
- Jenny Everywhere appears as the incarnation previously seen in COMIC: That Feeling When Your Antagonist Is Gay For You and subsequent works by King Francis Petty.
- Jenny across her incarnations is described as “a hero and an adventurer”; she is “an upbeat, confident, adventurous girl who enjoys sex”. She is explicitly described as pansexual and polyamorous.
Jenny Anywhere
- Jenny Anywhere appears in the incarnation previously in PROSE: Jenny Everywhere and the Very Normal Story. It is noted that she doesn't have any kind of mental link to other Anywheres, and thus does not share Everywhere's omniscience.
Jenny Nowhere
- Jenny Nowhere appears as the incarnation previously seen in COMIC: That Feeling When Your Antagonist Is Gay For You and subsequent works by King Francis Petty.
Jimmy Wherever
- The story posits the existence of an “original” Jimmy Wherever who served as a template for all the others in the Multiverse and as a lynchpin for the telepathic network they have, such as it is (which seems not to extend beyond a sense of shared identity and, as a result, shared association with Jenny Everywhere).
Jimmy Anytime
- The story posits the existence of an “original” Jimmy Anytime who served as a template for all the others in the Multiverse and as a lynchpin for the telepathic network they have, such as it is (which seems not to extend beyond a sense of shared identity and, as a result, shared association with Jenny Anywhere). He started out as a clone of Jimmy Wherever, unaware of his true nature but programmed via mind control to immediately try to kill the other Jimmy once he realised he was not the real Jimmy Wherever.
Universes
- After hopping across numerous nondescript universes to verify what Nowhere has done, Jenny Everywhere and Jenny Anywhere take refuge in a treehouse on Jupiter in one universe.
- Nowhere's lair is a space station in another universe, which feels instinctively “strangling” and “hollow” to Everywhere.
Continuity
- This story's versions of Jenny Nowhere and Jenny Everywhere previously appeared in COMIC: That Feeling When Your Antagonist Is Gay For You and numerous further works created by King Francis Petty, including an earlier miniature webnovel of the same format as Wherever at Anytime, PROSE: Jenny Everywhere and the Very Normal Story.
