In one universe, Baron Tarquin, later Lord Regent Tarquin, was a member of the Emperor's Council of Lords in the “Land of the Naked Emperor”.
Ambitious and power-hungry, Tarquin took advantage of a peasant revolt to which the Emperor responded poorly to get the Council of Lords to declare him mad and throw him in a dungeon, allowing Tarquin to take over as Lord Regent. He hired Dragon-riding Argothian mercenaries to “keep the peace”, and oppressed the land with renewed fervour.
Eventually, however, Greta Överallt, the Emperor's daughter, returned to the kingdom alongside Jenny Everywhere and Jenny Anywhere in tow. Taking them prisoner, Tarquin offered Greta a way back into power if she would marry him, thus cementing his claim to the Imperial throne. She scorned his offer and instead shifted him directly into a jail cell in Shelterville, under guard by Tammy Shotwell.
In the chaos caused by his sudden disappearance, the peasant revolutionaries managed to overthrow the Council of Lords and establish a new democratic government. Greta chose to hand Tarquin back over to them, intending to judge their wisdom by their treatment of Tarquin. (COMIC: 24 Hour Comic 2019)
