A Letter From Beyond was the 11-page storyline constituting the involvement of the webcomic Necroomies in the Halloween Cameo Caper 2014 webcomic crossover event. As per the spirit of the crossover, it included cameo appearances by characters from multiple other webcomics participating in the event, the conceit being that each webcomic's Kokotomo story was taking place in the same place as, and simultaneously with, all the others.

Plot

Junter returns from fighting the unspeakable horror that has invaded his and Ibdis's plumbing system. He is forced to confess that he has not defeated it — but he does bring back a mysterious letter that it spat out partway through the battle. Reading the letter, they find that they are invited to Kokotomo Island, “the Fantasy Island”, along with “other fun and quirky characters”.

Instead of dealing with the unspeakable horror, Junter ends up putting the apartment up for sale, making it irresistibly attractive to customers despite the unspeakable horror in the bathroom by placing a magical Rune of Wanting over the front door, and the apartment is quickly pawned off to Mr Norman. This proves to have been a premature move as Junter fails to find himself and Ibdis a new place to sleep in expectation of their trip to Kokotomo, and unfortunate events pile on as the weather turns stormy and a pack of hyenas improbably begin to prowl the street. The two do manage to sleep through the night in the street, but in the morning Ibdis is caught by surprise by the sunlight and catches fire.

Nevertheless, they are able to make it to the plane that will take them to Kokotomo, although they spend the plane flight fretting about being in such close proximity to so many superheroes, and bickering about Junter's irresponsibility in leaving for Kokotomo without having sorted out their housing situation back home. After landing, they gawk at some of the odd guests until they are greeted by Mr Montibar. Montibar sends Junter off to fulfill his fantasy — reliving his youth at a Wizard Academy so that he can rediscover why his memories of this part of his life were erased. The aloof Ibdis tells Montibar that he can't possibly fulfill his fantasy, but Montibar proves him wrong, introducing him to a sponge-man named Bob for him to play with.

Eventually, after both their fantasies are fulfilled, the lich and vampire fly home. Montibar watches them leave, amused that they failed to recognise him as a vampiric being in his own right — one who feeds off others' fantasies.
