Jenny Everywhere mentioning her multiversal nature. (COMIC: Infinity Apartment)

The Multiverse, or Multi-verse, also known as the Omniverse or the Multi-Universe, was the totality of every existing parallel universe — “all realities, all possibilities". Jenny Everywhere” was believed to exist in every dimension of the Multiverse. (COMIC: Infinity Apartment)

5D Space was a plane of reality in which one could visualise the infinity of universes, each appearing as a version of the planet Earth. (COMIC: Makeshift Multiverse)

Nature

According to one account, the Multiverse was born from a “soup of seething quarks” known as the proto-multiverse, which was fought over by the Destroyer and the Defender at the "beginning and end of everything". (PROSE: Where Is Everywhere)

The term of “hypercontinuum” could be used to refer to the “meta-history” of dimensional travellers and the Void. (PROSE: The Hermetic Garbage of Jenny Everywhere)

One account suggested that there was only one properly “real” universe, and an infinity of others which were “only possible, not actual,” though this did not mean they did not exist. According to this same account, there were five entities which existed in every possible universe that contained a version of the planet Earth: gravity, God, numerical facts, the “self-organising principle of nature,” and Jenny Everywhere. (COMIC: The Freak Issue) In a different but comparable conception, put forward by one Jenny, the many dimensions of the Multiverse were in actuality an infinite number of calculations being run on a quantum computer sitting at the end of Time in a singular “original” universe. According to her, the Entity was an embodiment of the computer clearing its cache after it had finished calculating a given universe. Another Jenny found this idea highly dispiriting. (COMIC: Makeshift Multiverse)

Smaller multiversal clusters existed within the Multiverse. (PROSE: Psychopomp)

History

According to one account, there originally existed a proto-multiverse, a "seething soup of quarks" which existed a the "beginning and end of everything" and was fought over by the Destroyer and the Defender. Before the Defender banished it into the Void, the Destroyer managed to damage the "pattern of everything" to such an extent that no Big Bang could take place, leaving the proto-multiverse "stillborn". This forced the Defender to sacrifice herself for the Multiverse, as she splintered herself into an infinity of more limited beings to fill the gaps. (PROSE: Where Is Everywhere)

The Multiverse once fell apart around Jenny Everywhere, its time-crystals “shattering like glass”. As all possibilities crowded in her perception, she managed to use her abilities to solidify reality back into one single mashed-together Collapsed Cosmos. Though she accidentally obscured her own memories of the Multiverse in the process, she and Laura Drake found their way back to understanding what was going on, and sought to use time-crystals to restore the Multiverse to its former state.

Other denizens of the Collapsed Cosmos, including the Archons of the Redoubt, also retained or recovered their memories of the old order of things and enacted plans of their own. Opinions were divided, among those in the know, about what had caused the collapse; some believed it was an aftereffect of the Great Webcomic Crossover Wars of 2007, or of the increased frequency of the “crises” which had their roots in the “big superhero universes”. Others yet believed that it was part of the Multiversal hypercontinuum's natural “life-cycle”. (PROSE: The Hermetic Garbage of Jenny Everywhere)
