On the Gallifrey of the 89067986779811167562948736197891674912223184th Universe, which was extremely similar to the Third Universe, a Junior Time Technician was “someone who'd fast-tracked through the Academy just to get their hands on a real TARDIS sooner — if only as a repairman”. These low-ranking Time Technicians wore distinct maroon uniforms in a simple, practical style.

The Doctor himself had once considered taking that option, though he ended up deciding otherwise in the end, something he went on to somewhat regret; by the time the First Doctor entered the Old Workshops to steal the Doctor's TARDIS (89067986779811167562948736197891674912223184th Universe), he viewed himself as, in part, making up for lost time. The splinter of the Great Intelligence who would later travel back in time to this moment to sabotage the Doctor's escape was meant to be counteracted by a particular Junior Technician who would one day look familiar to him, but in this universe, the Technician was knocked out by Jenny Nowhere, who wished to steal the TARDIS herself. Unaware of the Technician's significance, Nowhere ended up unwittingly fulfilling her intended role by turning the Doctor away from the TARDIS booby-trapped by the intelligence. Behind the scenes

The Gallifreyan Clara Oswald seen in The Name of the Doctor, wearing a maroon uniform unofficially identified in PROSE: How To Steal Timeships & To Influence Time Lords as those of a Junior Time Technician.

The Time Lord title of Time Technician originated in non-televised Doctor Who media and has never formally been used on television. Although her robes are clearly not those of a high-ranking Gallifreyan, the wheretos and wherefores of the Time Lord Clara Oswald splinter seen in The Name of the Doctor are left to viewers' imagination, with her job as a Junior Time Technician being Aristide Twain's own interpolation in PROSE: How To Steal Timeships & To Influence Time Lords.
