The Showdown (short story)
The Showdown was a short Jenny Everywhere prose story by Mattkind, released for Jenny Everywhere Day 2022. It featured the multiversal Heroines Guild, and was fairly NSFW.

Plot
On behalf of the Heroines Guild, Jenny Everywhere travels to the ghost town of Showdown, on Planet 19-1-14-4, a favoured hideaway of the famous outlaw Amber Kelly and her gang of smartly-dressed female robbers, the Fashionistas. After Jenny and Amber come face to face, Amber challenges Jenny to a duel, but proves far slower than Jenny. Instead of shooting to kill or wound, Jenny is so precise that she uses a series of strategically-aimed shots to ruin Kelly's outfit, and thereby her composure and concentration, before forcing her backwards into a horse-trough and shooting down an old sign hanging over it, which falls down on Kelly's head, knocking her out. When the outlaw comes to, Jenny has tied her onto her horse, still in the same embarrassing state of undress, and the two are on their way to the nearest Guild outpost, apparently twelve miles, or five towns, away.
Worldbuilding
Jenny Everywhere
- Jenny Everywhere appears as the incarnation previously seen in Jenny Everywhere Visits the Heroines Guild, with “olive skin” and hair in a pixie cut. On top of the obligatory goggles and scarf, she wears a Spinal Tap T-shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and pink combat boots, as well as, befitting the “Wild West in space” setting, “a gun belt with a small six-shooter”.
Universes
- The story takes place in an unidentified universe where Wild West-style towns, complete with colourful outlaws, exist on an alien planet known as Planet 19-1-14-4.
Continuity
- This is the same incarnation of Jenny as in Mattkind's Jenny Everywhere Day story for the previous year, PROSE: Jenny Everywhere Visits the Heroines Guild. Mattkind's contribution to the next year's Day, PROSE: Downtime, picked up directly where The Showdown left off.
- Another Jenny somehow acquired a copy of this story, read it, and commented upon it, somewhat denting the fourth wall in the process, in PROSE: Fanfic Critique. Later, Mattkind's own PROSE: Downtime acted both as a direct sequel to The Showdown and as a prequel to that story, showing that Jenny herself was the author of the in-universe version of The Showdown and had mailed to the Parallax Jenny while drunk.
- The Showdown should not be confused with PROSE: Showdown in the End Times by Jeanne Morningstar, a different story written years earlier.
