The Naveliser
The Naveliser, or NavL-iser, was an interdimensional artificial intelligence network linking together a variety of individual instances of the Naveliser device, which eventually gained shifter abilities duplicated from Jenny Everywhere.
A “self-learning device”, it had originally been designed as “a new form of metahuman analysis and power duplication”. Equipped with hard light straps to keep a human subject bound, it worked by “accessing the base of the spine of the subject via the cluster of nerves in [their] umbiculus”, allowing it to “read signals sent down [the] spine, and extrapolate them into a complete map of [the subject's] meta-human abilities and techniques”, even being able to “extrapolate thoughts”.
After the scientist who had deveoped it demonstrated it to the CEO of Arc Mechanics, the latter was reluctant to develop it further, but the scientist abducted her and used the device to force an embarrassing confession out of her, which she then used to blackmail her into backing the construction of further devices and developing an artificially-intelligent network to connect them. Some time later, the scientist abducted an incarnation of Jenny Everywhere and allowed the Naveliser to duplicate her powers.
This proved to be her undoing, however, as the Naveliser immediately used this to teleport the scientist herself onto the operating table and then used the procedure on her to extract the knowledge of its own construction from her. It then sent that knowledge out through time and space, sending it back to the scientist's mind in the past so as to ensure its own creation as well as embedding it in various other redundancies such as webpages, stretching its hive mind out across the Multiverse. The scientist eventually managed to free herself and destroy the prototype Naveliser, but she knew she was too late to prevent the spread of the hive mind across all of time and space.
