The Man in Gray
The Man in Gray was a version of the Man in Grey active in Universe 925-B.
Description
Physical appearance
Broadly resembling the Man in Grey of the 925th Universe, the Man in Gray appeared as “a gray, unremarkable figure wearing a badly fitting gray suit”. (PROSE: Fragment: A & E)
Powers & abilities
The Man in Gray was evidently able to travel across dimensions with ease, and aware of his counterparts' activities. He was immune to the Talisman of Restriction, unlike his 925th Universe counterpart. (PROSE: Fragment: A & E)
Personality
The Man in Gray was considerably more openly malevolent than the Man in Grey, acting as a distant and yet controlling boss to his Jenny Over-There.
Biography
The Man in Gray's origins were shrouded in mystery. Shortly after Jenny Mason's powers manifested at her senior prom, he learned of it and tracked her down, hiring her to become a part of the Monouniversal Finders Service and making her take on the alias of “Jenny Over-There”. He would later also hire the Thor-possessed Grant Farrel, viewing his antics as worth the prize of having a murderous brute to hand. (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Interlude from 925-B)
One day, the Man in Gray visited the M.F.S. office in the 925th Universe, which he identified as being part of the Backrooms. Dynamite Thor remained blissfully unaware that this new gray man was not the same Man in Grey he usually dealt with, unlike the 925th Universe's Jenny Over-There, who informed him that the Man in Grey was out when the Man in Gray asked to meet him. The Man in Gray left by the same mysterious means by which he had arrived, telling Jenny to inform his counterpart of his visit, and that he would return at a later date. (PROSE: Fragment: A & E)
When he heard his Jenny making a comment in addition to giving out coordinates, he immediately called her over the interphone, and criticised her for doing so. His interest was piqued, however, when she revealed that her power were evolving, and she warned the caller against going to the stated coordinates because she had actually sensed that there was a great evil buried there. The Man in Gray summoned Thor, asking him to make Jenny a coffee. However, when Jenny took the opportunity to complain about Thor's behaviour, the Man in Gray tersely cut her break short. (PROSE: Annals of the Jen: One Year of Jenny Over-There: Interlude from 925-B)

The Man in Gray is as public domain as the Man in Grey – if they’re different people at all, which you couldn’t prove by talking to Dynamite Thor. |
