The term “Barbelith” was coined by [[wikipedia:Grant Morrison|Grant Morrison]] as a recurring element of their ''[[wikipedia:The Invisibles|The Invisibles]]'' comic series. According to them, the name first came to them in a dream as the name of an alternative dimension or higher plane of existence; in their comics, the name instead refers to a mysterious, sentient red sphere existing on the dark side of the Moon which exists to help human beings connect to a higher, more enlightened plane of reality. What relationship may exist between Jenny's character and Morrison's fictional Barbelith (such as the Barbelith orb itself being an incarnation of Jenny in some way) has never been clarified.
