In Jenny Cornelius's reality, the Hounds were dealt with by the angels millennia ago, but while most were destroyed by the angels using flaming swords, at least one survived, being bound into a Sumerian artefact kept at the British Museum. In the 1960s, it escaped due to a curator treating the artefact carelessly, and headed to the shop housing one of the angels who'd fought its kind back in the day. The angel, being deprived of a Sword, sought out Jenny Cornelius; although the Hound followed him to the mews housing Jenny's home, she was able to furnish him with a lightsaber, which proved an adequate replacement for a Flaming Sword and allowed the celestial being to quickly dispatch the Hound, whose body dissolved into “smoke and foulness” as soon as it was dead.
