[[Jay Epps]]'s depiction of Zanzibar in [[COMIC]]: ''[[Ruthless Ro-Man (comic story)|Ruthless Ro-Man]]'' leaned strongly on the preexisting costuming resemblance that existed between him and the [[w:c:tardis:Eleventh Doctor|Eleventh]] [[The Doctor|Doctor]] as portrayed by [[w:c:tardis:Matt Smith|Matt Smith]], a reference made explicit in the author's notes for the page, where Epps quipped that “Zanzibar has a fez, so that makes him cool” (mirroring the Eleventh Doctor's famous claim that “fezzes are cool”).
