Renderblat was, at one point, the youngest the Artifectors who worked in the Laboratory of the Strange and Wonderful House.
When the Alarum warned the Artifectors of an impending offensive by Housekeeping, Renderblat was woken from a long nap by Spamblodgett, who threw a bezoar at him, and ordered to barricade the door, having been selected for the chore on the grounds that he was the youngest.
