In one universe, a crooked and misogynistic politician and businessman once tricked an independent builder into signing a contract whose small print would give him ownership of the construction for free unless it was completed by an unreasonable deadline. After the builder, in despair, tried to jump off the Manhattan Bridge, the Magician from Mars saved him and used her magic to complete the construction within the time-frame called for by the contract. The politician happened to be walking by just as she was doing so; in anger, he began insulting the Magician, who ended up smacking him around in retribution. (COMIC: On Earth)
