Behind the scenes
Harry Potter is the main character of Harry Potter, a boy wizard fated to destroy the Dark Lord Voldemort. Originally a series of books, Harry Potter was adapted into highly successful video games and live-action films, with actor Daniel Radcliffe portraying Harry in the latter.
Fifteen years after the fairly innocent allusion to the series in Infinity Apartment, it was referenced and parodied at length by Jeanne Morningstar in The Hermetic Garbage of Jenny Everywhere due to the series' creator, J. K. Rowling, being widely decried by that point for her transphobic views. Mumblecore is a parody of Harry's school headmaster and mentor, Albus Dumbledore; the “wizarding bad-boy” referenced elsewhere in the story is Harry's nemesis Draco Malfoy; and the billionaire writer whose mansion Glendalf robs in retaliation for her “sullying the good name of wizardry” is evidently intended to be J.K. Rowling herself.
