Andy Capp is the protagonist of a long-running British newspaper comic strip of the same name, having launched in 1957. Andy is characterised as a clumsy, lazy, hapless, but generally lovable working-class man never seen without a large cap obscuring his eyes. He is depicted as living in Hartlepool.
