Alastair (Our Strange and Wonderful House)

In one universe, Alastair was an acquaintance of Elshanor of Hawk Manor. He once waited for her in the library of the Manor, seemingly in vain until what appeared to be Elshanor stepped out of the shimmer interdimensional portal in the library. He was first frightened by the intrusion, readying his knife, then elated when he realised who the woman was. However, looking at her closely, Alastair felt she was not quite the Elshanor he had known. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House)

Behind the scenes

It is not clear if the “different” Elshanor glimpsed by Alastair in The Other Side is a parallel universe's Elshanor, having stepped through a portal in her own universe's Hawk Manor Library and ending up in another Hawk Manor instead of the Strange and Wonderful House, as Our Strange and Wonderful House's “main” Elshanor does in The Bathroom (of the Library) — or if she is simply an older version of the main Elshanor, changed by her experiences in the Library, stepping back into Hawk Manor after no time at all had passed from Hawk Manor's perspective, in the manner of faerie-realms.
