Behind the scenes

Like Dynamite Thor, the Spider Queen (civilian name Shannon Kane) was a short-lived 1940s superhero comics characters in stories published by the Fox Features Syndicate, who subsequently entered the public domain. She is best remembered for having a basic gimmick which closely anticipates Spider-Man, creating extremely strong webs by using devices attached to her wrists to shoot out a fast-drying artificial web fluid. In acknowledgement of the similarity, a version of the character was eventually introduced to Marvel Comics, albeit as a villainous character.
