Marks & Spencer was a chain of stores, at least one which existed in London by the 1960s in Jenny Cornelius's universe. Jenny was walking home from shopping at the nearest M&S when she was accosted by an angel who needed help with a tricky situation. (PROSE: Dog Days of Sumer)
Behind the scenes
In his author's note for Dog Days of Sumer, Scott Sanford admitted that he was not sure that “the M&S on Oxford Street was there in Jenny Cornelius’s era”, though “the M&S Marble Arch branch definitely was in business at the time, but a kilometer west of the store [he] had in mind”.
