The Metafictional Macaw

The Metafictional Macaw was one of the three prophetic birds kept in a cage by the Collective of the Retconning Crocodiles, alongside the Early Bird. As its name implied, the Macaw, which had the power of speech, perceived its reality as a work of fiction and could, for example, sense disturbances in “the format” or read past chapters of the story it was currently living through. The Crocodiles made use of the Macaw's ability in their quest for the Frost King's treasure, to whose existence it had alerted theme, even taking the Macaw along to Manik. Seemingly loyal to the Crocodiles, it fought on their side in the brawl between the various treasure-seekers, briefly proving a match for no less than Madame Tarsa. Later, when the treasure was split between the treasure-seekers, the Macaw took a sack of gold for himself, proving to “have an eye for profit, all in all”. (PROSE: The Frost King's Treasure)
