In one universe, Charlotte Mitchell, bullying a young Jenny about her aviator goggles, once asked her if she wanted to explore “Australia, America or Cloud Cuckoo Land”. (PROSE: The Genesis of Jenny Everywhere)

Behind the scenes

In Aristophanes's The Birds, Nephelokokkygia, often translated as Cloud Cuckoo Land, is a city-state built in the sky by all the birds of the Earth at the suggestion of the main character. Philosopher Schopenhauer popularised a figurative use of the term as a stock way of referring to a hollow, whimsical phantasmagoria — as opposed to the real, material world or imagined systems that accurately model it.
