A literary history note: the cannon-to-space idea used by H.G. Wells for his 1898 War of the Worlds was not unique to him. Jules Verne used substantially the same idea in his 1965 From the Earth to the Moon (or De la Terre à la Lune if you prefer the original French). In reality various space gun schemes have been proposed and some even tested; so far none have found practical applications. Johnny Righthere (talk) 06:05, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
