Reichenbach IV was the name given by the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids' Department of Literature to a planet in one universe.
It was home to no sentient life but had natural habitats that were hospitable to Earth animals, such as various species of apes and monkeys. The Crew allowed the Department of Literature to name the planet after a literary reference of their choice, with them choosing “Reichenbach IV”. Later, Conspiracy-1263 transported a large number of monkeys and apes to Reichenbach IV to experiment with what they could produce on typewriters, away from prying eyes. After his experiments were discovered, the Department of Zoology, not knowing precisely from where and when Conspiracy had gotten his monkeys, elected to release them back onto Reichenbach IV, which presented suitable habitats for all of them. Behind the scenes
The name is a pun on the Reichenbach Falls, which, while a real place, are most famous as the location of Sherlock Holmes's final duel with Professor Moriarty in Arthur Conan Doyle's The Final Problem
