Mufasa

Mufasa
From Jenny Everywhere Wiki

One of Hector Fenwick's irritating non sequitur questions to the Copper-Colored Cupids involved him asking why “the Lion King's father was killed when his brother shoved him off a cliff” if it was true that cats always landed on their feet. In reply, Juliet-178 sighed that she didn't know. (PROSE: The Metafictional Meddler)

Behind the scenes

This references a plot point from The Lion King, a 1994 Disney animated film; the titular Lion King is the protagonist Simba, although he only comes into his birthright as King of the Pride Lands at the end of the film, with the position being occupied first by his father Mufasa, and later by his uncle and Mufasa's murderer, Scar. Hector Fenwick's question arguably has an actual answer within the film: Mufasa does not actually die merely of falling from the cliff, but of being trampled to death by the stampeding wildebeests below. Indeed, prior to being thrown down again by Scar, Mufasa had already jumped down into the gorge from an equivalent height to rescue Simba, without immediate ill effect — and indeed landed on his feet on that occasion.
