The “Collapsed Cosmos” was the reality which coalesced around Jenny Everywhere after she tried to avert the complete collapse of the Multiverse itself. Jenny woke up from the catastrophe in 2021, now living with Laura Drake and having trouble recollecting the old cosmic order. Others, such as Glendalf, Chaos, and the inhabitants of the Redoubt, had better luck.
During the Collapsed Cosmos's existence, some areas of the remaining reality were taken over by Chaos. Faerie also remained separate from the bulk of the Cosmos, as did many Limbo realms.
History
Creation
Opinions were divided as to the origins of the Multiverse's collapse itself. Some speculated it was an aftereffect of the Great Webcomic Crossover Wars of 2007, or of the increasing frequency of the “crises” faced by “the big superhero universes”; or indeed that it was simply a natural, cyclical phenomenon, part of the “life-cycle” of the hypercontinuum itself. A stranger 21st century
The Collapsed Cosmos was superficially mundane, but actually full of strange or supernatural details which did not add up; the “reality stability” of the place varied, and this was a known fact to its inhabitants, who would check the reality stability percentage on their smart phones (as one might the weather) before heading out; places such as libraries (where the accumulation of books could cause glitches in reality) had “chaos alarms” warning citizens when levels of chaos had become dangerous. The Legendary Time Crystal
After visiting the local library, where the “librarians” were silent mage-like beings wearing white masks and long robes, Jenny fell into a variation of reality that mixed elements of her life (and past lives) with the contents of the books which had fallen on her; during this adventure, she was able to recover part of her awareness of the Multiverse. She, and the version of Laura in the fictionalised world, tried to acquire the Legendary Time Crystal to restore the Multiverse, each in their own way, but when they began fighting, the multi-dimensional significance of the event caused their current reality to collapsed, with Jenny finding herself somewhere else entirely: in the prehistoric past before the evolution of Homo Sapiens. The Archons' efforts
At the End of Time, the Archons, including Amelia Midnight, created the Redoubt, a city made up of bits of various locations which they had rescued from oblivion now that they no longer existed in the singular cosmos. The Archons had their own plans to rectify the damage done to reality. Presumably acting on their behalf, “ARCHONET”, an artificial intelligence controlling an army of mechanical Grigori, ruled the 21st century city to which the “collapsed” Jenny belonged. It kept watch over the whole of the Collapsed Cosmos, though it had no jurisdiction in Faerie, which had managed to stay separate from the bulk of the Collapsed Cosmos, nor in the various Limbo realms.
