Makeshift Multiverse was an early Jenny Everywhere comic story, being the ninth in the original line-up of the 13 original Barbelith stories. It was written by Alex Hernandez, drawn by Mario Torres and coloured by Nico Bovoso.
It was the first Jenny Everywhere story to be originally released in full colour, and also the first to prominently feature several incarnations of Jenny, although several Jenny appeared together in one panel (without interacting) in the earlier COMIC: The Late Shift.

Plot
Shortly after Jenny Everywhere, getting her fortune read in a tarot deck by a street fortune teller only for the fortune teller to inexplicably draw five “world” cards in a row, a mysterious flower-like Void Ship materialises in a forest near the city. When she comes to investigate, she discovers it is manned four more incarnations of herself, who enlist her to help save her universe from a mysterious identity in 5D Space.
Worldbuilding
Jenny
- This story features five different incarnations of Jenny Everywhere and mentions a sixth. All five visible Jennies look somewhat similar but have different outfits and demeanours.
- One Jenny built the Lotus Prime and gathered the others. She wears a purple jumpsuit with a “J.E.” insignia.
- “The Shifter” wears her green-tined goggles over her eyes and also has a long black cape. According to the previous Jenny, it's “tough” in her native universe.
- “Shift”'s body is constantly shifting at a high frequency. As a result she gives out functionally unlimited amounts of shifter energy.
- One Jenny wears high-tech armour and is significantly taller than the others.
- The story's main Jenny originally lived in a city in a run-of-the-mill, mundane universe.
- She was brought on to replace the Lotus Prime’s original fifth Jenny, who died during the Jennies' previous attempt to get the entity under control.
Universes
- This story beings in an ordinary-looking Earth city in an unnamed universe.
- Within 5D Space, various other universes are visible, including a string of “dead” universes (containing no life) towards which the Jennies redirect the Entity.
Other
- One Jenny speculates that the Multiverse is in actuality virtual, being simulated by a quantum computer sitting at the end of Time in a singular “original” universe.
Continuity
- This story sees several incarnations of Jenny Everywhere opposing an eldritch entity that is destroying universes. PROSE: Where Is Everywhere suggested that Jenny was originally the Defender, a cosmic being who fought “the Destroyer”.
- “Shifter energy” was again mentioned in PROSE: Morning After.
