In one universe, Janet Jenkin was a red-haired woman who lived at the Koala Bay Bares Naturist Resort. Following a formative adventure in another world as a child, she developed a hobby of crafting clay garden gnomes.

Biography

When she was six years old, Janet followed a White Rabbit down a hole. This turned out to be a portal to a magical parallel world where humans (and clothing) were a rare sight, inhabited by creatures such as gnomes, elves and fairies. She took a particular liking to a pair of nomes, Gog and Mim, who would remember her decades later, not without fondness, as a “crazy girl”. After she returned home, Janet tried to share her story, but got told off by her mother for insisting on “tall tales” and eventually stopped discussing the matter, though she never doubted her own memories and started craft clay “Gnude Gnomes” in the likenesses of Gog and Mim. When Abúi arrived at the Resort, disguised as a human tourist called “Abby”, she joined Herb Wintly and Geena Aletti in having a drink with the newcomer. (COMIC: Incognito)

Shortly after having her own adventure in Gog and Mim's world, Tash Spicer, returning to her home universe, was startled by the sight of two of Janet's garden gnomes from a distance, and shouted Gog and Mim's names at them. Overhearing her, Janet realised she was no longer the only person at Koala Bay to have travelled to the fantasy world, and invited her in to tell her the story of her own visit. (COMIC: Enchanted)

Behind the scenes

Janet Jenkins was one of the recurring background characters of the webcomics Loxie & Zoot and The Bare Pit. Her profile on the official Bare Pit cast list read:

Janet, along with her husband Fred, was a cofounder and original owner of the Koala Bay Bares Naturist Resort. Now retired, she is hoping to do some traveling but since Fred has lost the travel bug she fears the likelihood of going anywhere outside Koala Bay is rapidly diminishing. Janet loves pottery and working with clay. She has started up her own little craft business, making and selling garden gnomes - these ones are gnudists too!
