“Grey Stuff” is mentioned in the lyrics of the song Be Our Guest in the 1991 Disney animated film Beauty and the Beast, with Lumière the living candlestick suggesting that Belle “try the grey stuff, it's delicious. Don't believe me? Ask the dishes!”. What if any real-world foodstuff was being referenced remains a riddle for the ages, though a de novo dish explicitly labeled as “Grey Stuff” would go on to be served at some Beauty and the Beast-themed restaurants at Disney resorts.
